About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Designer – CAD to lead and support design activities on offshore energy projects. The role involves preparing and reviewing fabrication and layout drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring deliverables are produced to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:

Preparing and reviewing design, fabrication, and installation drawings

Leading, checking, and approving the work of a drafting team

Acting as focal point for design-related communication across projects

Supporting fabrication and construction teams in resolving design challenges

Coordinating with project leads to ensure schedules and budgets are achieved

Ensuring compliance with company standards, QA, and HSE procedures

Contributing to technical audits, estimates, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements

Technical qualification in mechanical, structural, or related engineering discipline

Strong experience in subsea structures and field layout design

Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and other CAD tools
-
Previous experience producing and reviewing fabrication drawings in offshore or subsea projects

Proven leadership experience at senior or lead designer level
-
Sound knowledge of international design codes and industry standards

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Strong organisational ability to manage priorities and deadlines

Desirable

Experience with offshore installation drawings (deck layouts, rigging, method sketches)

Familiarity with PLM or design data management systems

Knowledge of rule-based or automated design tools (e.g., iLogic)

Exposure to offshore wind, subsea infrastructure, or renewable energy projects
