Job Title: Telecommunications and SCADA Engineer Services.

About You
You will be an accomplished Electrical Engineer with advanced expertise in High Voltage (HV) systems and Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) SCADA infrastructure, particularly within the offshore wind sector. You’ll have experience with hands-on involvement in the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex SCADA networks and control systems that ensure safe and efficient offshore operations. As well as a proven understanding of communication systems commonly used in offshore environments—such as TETRA, VHF, 4G, and IP telephony—a comprehensive technical foundation that supports seamless coordination between onshore and offshore assets.
Being technically adept and detail-oriented, you will possess the ability to understand complex offshore operations, engage effectively with subject matter experts, and contribute to the successful delivery of transport and installation (T&I) projects. With experience preparing and managing Call for Tender (CFT) documentation, evaluating contractor proposals, and supporting package awards.
Your background includes direct collaboration with multidisciplinary and international teams, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders while consistently meeting deadlines and project objectives. I excel at facilitating clear, effective discussions among contractors, engineers, and management teams, enabling smooth information flow and informed decision-making.
 


About the Role
The service provider will be responsible for managing the design/engineering, integration and commissioning of the SCADA systems and association communication systems. The service provider holder will ensure Offshore Wind Telecom and SCADA engineering and execution preparation activities related to the German Offshore Wind NSE1 and NSE3 projects.
You will assist in achieving critical project milestones in accordance with project requirements, working in close collaboration and coordination with the Project team, as well as supporting the Engineering package Manager in accordance with project’s requirements and actively ensure interfaces with other disciplines/packages are identifies and captures.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and developing a philosophy and technical specifications for the delivery of the SCADA, Telecom and Control System.
  • Evaluating and challenging design concepts made by Contractors and Suppliers and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
  • Identifying and managing the logical interfaces between the systems ensuring that the data exchanges between the SCADA and Telecom systems or with 3rd party systems are developed according to the project requirements.
  • Ensuring an overarching approach to SCADA and Telecom systems design is implemented, recognizing and reflecting all interfaces and dependencies.
  • Providing support to the Interface Management Team to manage the physical Interfaces associated with the elements of the SCADA and communication systems.
  • Co-ordinating and managing the interface of control, Telecom, and SCADA systems developed by the Wind Turbine Manufacturer and the Substation equipment supplier.
  • Developing the overall FO network design, identifying the requirements associated with the different work packages and coordinating the scope of the different suppliers.
  • Ensuring the Implementation of Grid Code related to Control, Data Monitoring and Telecom Issues.
  • Ensuring the incorporation of the Project’s Cybersecurity requirements and measures in the design of the SCADA and communication systems.
  • Developing and maintaining a Telecom and SCADA system design basis.
  • Reviewing Contractors Quality and Acceptance Tests and ensuring that they are performed to specification and documented (FAT and SAT).
  • Witnessing Supplier Commissioning Activities and reviewing their results.
  • Co-ordinating with O&M to ensure SCADA and communication meets the functional requirements.
  • Preparing responses to and issuing Technical Queries for Contractors.
